Pentragram Berlin designed this museum’s identity in 2006 and as part of an ongoing collaboration also designed this poster for the Marlene Dietrich collection. Using the abstract shape of the logo to create a space for the figure in the foreground is a great idea. The poster is modern and graphical without overpowering the classic black and white photo. Posters need to quickly catch bypassers attention and draw them into take a closer look. What’s missing is more detailed information about the collection. Giving a better idea of what to expect from the collection and hinting at the depth of content to discover would go a long way to make me feel like I would just have to see it.

The typography is modern and sharp, the colors are fresh and the designs rely on basic visual elements and principles instead of images as is so often the case.
